Juice WRLD
1998-2019
Before the world knew him as Juice WRLD, he was Jarad Anthony Higgins, a kid from Chicago who started music production from an early age. In his early years, he started playing the piano at 4 years old and later picked up some other instruments like drums, guitar, and trumpet. He started making music as a teenager, freestyle rapping and posting it online. When reciting rap songs, he would usually forget lyrics which then he would replace with his own words. This habit then developed his unique famous way of freestyling. Eventually, his music began reaching more and more people.
In 2018, everything changed. His song “Lucid Dreams” exploded in popularity, turning him from an upcoming artist into a worldwide star almost overnight. His deep emotional lyrics about heartbreak, anxiety, and life connected with millions of listeners. He released his debut album Goodbye & Good Riddance, followed by Death Race for Love in 2019, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
But behind the brilliant rap star, Juice was struggling with serious personal conflicts. Even as his career continued rising, he often expressed the battles he was facing through his music.
On December 8, 2019, Juice WRLD died at just 21 years old after suffering a medical emergency at Chicago's Midway Airport. His death shocked the music world and millions of fans.
Although his life was tragically short, his music remained iconic. Pre-recorded albums (such as the party never ends) and unreleased songs (such as empty out your pockets) continued to reach listeners after his death, and his influence on hip-hop and modern melodic rap continued to grow.
Juice WRLD went from a teenager making music on his smartphone to one of the biggest artists of his generation. He may have only had 21 years, but the music he left behind will make his story last forever.
